Job Summary:

As part of Disney Experiences, the Technology & Digital Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) Tools team leads the effective implementation, enhancement, and sustainment of our current PPM tool, MyPPM, as the primary tool for project cost projection, schedule management, resource management, planning and reporting.

As a Sr Technical Business Analyst (Project Hire) on the PPM Tools team you will be joining a group of passionate, dedicated technologists who have made exceptional strides to evolve their delivery efficiency and quality. MyPPM is the go-to source for accurate and timely data for all DX T&D investments and resources. It enables teams to work more effectively and provide leadership with easy access to the information they need to make strategic decisions.

Overview:

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded business analyst with direct experience with the Clarity platform (version 16.2+). Under minimal direction, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for creating functional requirements and documentation for complex projects, aligned to business requirements.  This individual will have a consistent record of supporting business analysis, requirements, validations, and documentation for a complex web-based application, Clarity, that is at the core of Portfolio and Project Management for the organization. We are seeking an impactful and motivated individual who will drive efficiency of delivery and consistency of application quality through defining and supervising functional requirements. 

Responsibilities:

  • Creates functional requirements and documentation to guide development of solutions aligned to business requirements.

  • Analyze business processes, gather requirements, document requirements using techniques such as workshop facilitation, document analysis, onsite walkthroughs, use case creation, scenario modeling, and task/workflow analysis.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs, strategic direction, and ensure initiative delivery.

  • Participates in regular production deployments, outlining and executing validation steps.

  • Partners with Product Managers and engineers to analyzes and translate business, information, and technical requirements into functional requirements, which guides solutions that integrate across applications, systems, products, and platforms to achieve business objectives.

  • Supports integration of application across platforms, considering data flows and interfaces both inbound and outboard of the tool.

  • Partners with vendors to ensure that business requirements are translated into functional requirements and appropriately prioritized.

  • Responsible for ticket creation and tracking for user stories, technical debt, and other issue types as needed.

  • Organizes and participates in agile planning, estimation, and documentation for team projects.

  • Supports planning of periodic upgrades from vendor of web and app-based applications.

  • Assists in setting goals, benchmarks, milestones and project plans for system functionality and tracking against these plans. 

  • Advises leadership of regular application and delivery progress through various reporting metrics.

  • Reviews test plan and execution results as needed to ensure implementation meets functional requirements.

  • Facilitates scoping and business priority-setting for complex change initiatives.

  • Assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, and identifies options for consideration by product owners.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a dedicated business analyst role responsible for functional requirements of complex systems for a large organization. 

  • Proficiency with Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools, specifically the Broadcom Clarity platform and experience with Clarity “Modern UX” (version 16.2+).

  • Knowledge of business analysis, application and solution design, software development lifecycle, and integration in a large organization.

  • Experience writing functional specifications and documentation.

  • Experience interpreting a variety of technical instructions and dealing with abstract and concrete variables.

  • Basic awareness of the broader Disney technical infrastructure to be able to extrapolate impact of changes to system functionality.

  • Troubleshooting and triage skills, the ability to determine user and system impact, and the ability to resolve complex issues and to exercise sound judgment and initiative in stressful situations.

  • Basic knowledge of industry best practices and major components of relevant technologies.

  • Basic experience in technical project management.

  • Experience with business analysis tools and application development methodologies (Software Development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Experience using process mapping tools such as Visio, BlueDolphin, etc. to document and define business and technical processes.

  • Prior experience working on an agile delivery team and proficiency in the components of agile development, including backlog refinement, estimation, and prioritization. 

  • Experience using reporting tools like PowerBI for reporting on metrics, objectives, and key results.

  • Experience working with Quality Engineering team to coordinate on effective test planning and execution.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration with teams to produce quality work.

  • Excellent analytical, debugging and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Troubleshooting skills, ability to determine issue impact, ability to resolve complex issues, and ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in stressful situations.

  • Knowledge of software development technologies (web servers, web scripting languages, multi-tier architectures).

  • Experience with SAAS web-based applications.

  • Tools: Strong working knowledge of Confluence and JIRA agile tools as well as the MS Office Suite and Smartsheet.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DevOps and continuous integration concepts and frameworks.

  • Experience with integrations with ERP systems, including SAP and Workday.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
