Systems Engineer Intern (m/f/d)
Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer Intern will take part in the configuration and deployment of end-user hardware on the Disney Destiny. The position will be involved from the original hardware configuration to the final deployment onboard and exposed to all ship building milestones. The engineer will provide technical support for endpoints including, but not limited to PCs, MacOS, Android, iOS, Linux, printers, antennas, and much more.
This also includes ensuring a smooth handover from the project team to operations, by assisting with scheduling priority spaces, communicating with stakeholders, overseeing loading of equipment, providing excellent leadership updates, and determining offload activities.
This role will be fully on-site in Uplengen and Papenburg, Germany.
Responsibilities:
Hardware Configuration:
Learn and manage end-user configuration tools (Jamf, AirWatch, MECM) used to configure endpoint equipment including desktops, laptops, time clocks, POS, mobile devices
Assist with the imaging process in our pre-production facility where equipment is configured before staging it for onboard deployment
Deepen knowledge of technical writing by documenting processes and tools
Deployment:
Collaborate with technical inspectors and project managers for venue readiness to load equipment in a timely manner
Help identify deficiencies and alert stakeholders in a timely fashion to address concerns and issues while also presenting the remediation steps that will correct the deficiency. If deficiencies are not remediated in a timely fashion escalate to the appropriate leader
Assist with accurate reporting of status for daily leadership reports and dashboards
Route technology issues to the appropriate teams to ensure timely troubleshooting and solving of issues
Design and utilize documentation to allow all stakeholders access to information efficiently. Documentation should be stored in a collaborative platform allowing for multiple stakeholders to access the data either online or offline as needs may require
Provide status reports on time and in such a format that it can be used in overall project reporting
Develop relationships with internal technology team members and external stakeholders to facilitate collaborative efforts in finding creative solutions to issues as they arise
Working closely with onboard IT staff to identify surplus equipment needed to be offloaded at final port
Logistics:
Keep an updated schedule of when equipment is needed to allow for adequate time of loading equipment
Lead the coordination of finding storage spaces across the ship that are suitable for hardware until it can be deployed in final location
Coordinate with vendor to ensure resources are available for moving hardware from loading platform to the assigned storage location
Track hardware location on the ship
Help ensure storage locations are kept clean and in accordance to US Coast Guard guidelines
Additional:
Prepare Disney Cruise Line User IDs in advance to support vendors and other departments with access during the vessel commissioning period
Assist onboarding new vendors with technical hardware onsite
Basic Qualifications:
Comfortable and eager to work in a fast-paced environment with demanding timelines
Creative problem solving and remediation skills
Good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders as well as senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in the cruise line industry
Required Education:
Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or graduated within the past 12 months, from an accredited college/university, earning a degree majoring in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Project Management or similar field or related work experience
