Job Summary:

Disney’s Direct to Consumer (DTC) team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment, helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere. 

The Disney+ Global Subscriber Engagement and Content Programming team is responsible for leading content planning, scheduling, on-service merchandising, slate management, and programming insights that contribute to a cohesive strategic content approach for the service.

What You'll Do

Disney’s Global Content Programming team is seeking a Manager, Content Programming to enhance to oversee global governance and establish frameworks for publishing capabilities that align with our merchandising strategies and workflows, ultimately driving audience engagement and discovery on platforms like Disney+ and Hulu.

You will work closely with content programmers, product teams, and other cross-functional teams to create, communicate, and maintain a comprehensive source of truth for our Content Programming capabilities and strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong familiarity with content curation, data analysis, and project management, along with a passion for growth and a broad understanding of television, film, and popular culture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary programming contact for the global rollout of new publishing capabilities and frameworks, ensuring ongoing education and support for all features.

  • Strategically launch and manage optimized merchandising tool capabilities in collaboration with editorial, personalization, and product teams.

  • Create and develop a variety of training materials, including presentation decks, documents, and spreadsheets, to facilitate effective knowledge transfer.

  • Present global capabilities and frameworks to executives, regional teams, and working groups to foster alignment and understanding.

  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure the availability of content and assets that align with merchandising strategies.

  • Work closely with product teams to test and implement new features aimed at enhancing the subscriber experience.

  • Oversee and support global content programming, promotion, retention, and engagement initiatives for Disney+.

  • Drive process improvements and develop scalable solutions to optimize programming efficiency.

  • Partner on international editorial merchandising and promotional strategies to enhance global outreach.

  • Build, oversee, and publish programming content within the CMS and other relevant tools.

  • Collaborate with the programming experimentation team to identify testing needs and implement necessary evaluations.

  • Work with the programming data and insights team to act on findings and make informed decisions.

  • Team leadership: manage and support the career development of direct reports, fostering a culture of professional growth.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in content programming, curation, product development, audience engagement, analytics, or streaming television.

  • 1+ years of team management experience, showcasing effective leadership and mentorship skills.

  • Proficient in digital media publishing with hands-on experience using a consumer-facing CMS across web, app, streaming, or connected devices.

  • Familiar with using data analysis tools such as Tableau, Looker, Excel, Google Sheets, and Airtable to drive informed decision-making and enhance insights.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to follow-through on projects and initiatives.

  • Superior organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, enabling efficient handling of complex tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to present confidently to large audiences and write clearly and concisely.

  • Skilled at balancing multiple projects simultaneously, adapting priorities seamlessly, and maintaining composure under pressure.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in engaging and communicating with senior management and key stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of digital media platforms, with hands-on experience managing web, app, streaming, and connected device content.

  • Quick learner with robust critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Passionate about thriving in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

  • Strategic, creative, and entrepreneurial mindset, driving innovative solutions and approaches.

  • Proven ability to navigate a matrixed organization while maintaining self-motivation and accountability.

  • Comfortable utilizing data to inform decision-making and develop strategic initiatives.

  • Successful track record in growing diverse audiences across various platforms.

  • Deep passion for television, film, news, and sports, with a genuine love for the industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in streaming television, sports, or live news, with a solid understanding of industry dynamics and audience engagement.

  • Proven leadership experience in global content programming, demonstrating the ability to manage and execute programming strategies across diverse markets.

  • Strong proficiency in Airtable, leveraging the platform for effective project management and content organization.

  • Multilingual, with international lived experience, enhancing ability to connect with diverse audiences and navigate global content landscapes is a plus.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field or equivalent years of experience. 

Additional Information

  • This role is based out of the Glendale office 4 days a week.


The hiring range for this position in CA is $103,500.00 to $138,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
