Any incremental raises, performance pay or bonuses: Eligible for the WDAS Film Bonus, where the amount awarded varies year over year depending on performance of our shows/the company

Job Summary:
Walt Disney Animation Studios has an exciting opportunity for Environment Modelers to join the team at our Vancouver, BC studio. As a Modeler at our studio, you will build complex 3D models including prop models and complete set environments. You’ll work with a team of artists, including Visual Development Artists to interpret designs, and build and refine models for production. Please note that relocation eligibility may be determined based on role and individual circumstance.
Responsibilities:
● Build complex set and prop models with organized, efficient, polygonal topology including: vehicles, buildings, plant life, terrain and complete set environments. Models will need to be constructed to account for mechanical articulation when necessary.
● Complete organization and packaging of assets for efficient downstream consumption.
● Work well in a collaborative environment.
● Address direction and feedback from Leads, Supervisors and Directors.
Key Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree or relevant post-secondary diploma/certificate
● Previous professional experience modeling in Maya
● An understanding of ZBrush/Mudbox
● Demonstrates ability to learn new toolsets
● Ability to translate 2d artwork to 3d models
● Experience creating stylized environments and props
● Must have an Environment Modeling portfolio that contains breakdowns and wireframes, and showcases a variety of Environment work, including hard surface, organic modeling, moderately complex models, and stylized work, that all meet the studio’s quality standards
● Strong problem solving skills
● Proven ability to be detail oriented and to work efficiently within a production environment
● Must be able to work in a collaborative environment, taking direction from the Supervisors and feedback from the Art Director and Director(s)

Bonus Qualifications:
● Layout experience a plus
● Experience with 3d modeling, set dressing and presentation tools such as Houdini, Blender, Clarisse and Marmoset a plus
● Previous experience with traditional 3D sculpting a plus
● Scripting (Python) background a plus
● Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Wage Range: The hiring range for this position in British Columbia, Canada is C$76,500 to C$99,000 per year. This hiring range covers candidates who are considered experienced level. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
