As a Lead Software Engineer with a wealth of experience in software engineering leadership and a strong commitment to excellence, you will oversee a team of skilled engineers within the Payments and Accounting Technology team responsible for advancing the payments and accounting ecosystem to support the ever-expanding business needs of the Parks Commercial Platforms.  We seek forward-thinking individuals who are passionate about delivering a quality product and enjoy working closely with business partners on both strategic and tactical challenges.  The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, utilize good time management skills, and function well within a diverse team. The Lead Software Engineer reports to the Senior Manager-Technology.

As a part of our team, you will work towards achieving the objectives outlined below:

  • Actively participating in the successful implementation of solutions for complex technical problems with architecture teams
  • Taking ownership of the development and maintenance of the architecture for frameworks, execution environments, build systems, and tooling used across multiple products.
  • Providing strategic input on future initiatives with stakeholders and fellow engineers.
  • Defining the high-level project architecture and effectively communicating architecture decisions to the entire team
  • Contributing to and defining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure project progress and effectiveness.
  • Managing by influence engineers to ensure clean code that introduces new features and capabilities.
  • Leading engineers to enhance productivity through innovation and automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation and maintenance of applications, automations, QA environments, and reporting tools.
  • Implementation of code to improve test automation, efficiency, and develop proof of concepts to solve complex solutions.
  • Managing and collaborating with external teams and stakeholders for complex tasks.
  • Guiding and mentoring junior developers, conducting thorough code reviews and technical analysis.
  • Prioritizing, estimating, and defining complex projects and tools.
  • Manage scheduling, updates, and communications with both internal and external teams.
  • Define Key Performance Indicators to determine project statuses and effectiveness.
  • Offer strategic input on future initiatives to stakeholders and engineers.
  • Investigate and resolve environmental issues impacting our services.
  • Act as a valuable resource for other software engineers on the team.
  • Work closely with immediate teams and colleagues to develop intricate solutions, review code, and propose enhancements.
  • Supervise by influence a small team of 1-3 dedicated software engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of design patterns and modern, highly scalable application development
  • Advanced experience with AWS Lambda ; DynamoDB; Aurora DB, Mongo DB, Kafka topics, etc
  • Advanced experience with MicroServices, Restful API’s, Cloud computing
  • Advanced experience with Java 11+, JavaScript, XMLs, Json Messaging, Cloud infrastructures
  • Advanced experience with Angular and Node
  • Advanced experience in Object-Oriented design principles, patterns, and coding best practices
  • Advanced experience building use case driven software with Agile Software Development and Test Driven Development methodologies
  • Advanced experience with database applications, NoSQL, mobile applications (eg. iOS, Android, etc), and data manipulation tools (eg. Python, etc) is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to be highly flexible to quickly changing business needs and new technologies
  • Ability to follow existing programming and style guidelines to maintain consistent quality of code
  • Ability to contribute to test automation as part of code regression and testing
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation, procedures, and working instructions for the operations team
  • Ability to lead improvement of software development processes, protocols and procedures
  • Ability to proactively reassess business needs and make suggestions to meet those needs
  • Ability to apply vision, creativity, and proactive solutions to exceptionally complex issues
  • Ability to lead programming, testing and debugging of major projects
  • Ability to conceive and set the direction for major development projects
  • Ability to lead projects and oversee teams
  • Ability to train, mentor, and review the work of less experienced members of the team 

Required Education:

  • ·Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  •  7+ years of related work experience, architecture and development experience in a highly scalable, high-volume software components, and/or client-facing web applications
  • 2-4 years leading Software Engineering teams and projects
