
Senior Branding and Packaging Designer

You'll work closely with the Senior Branding Manager and other design leads to create innovative, on-brief designs that set the standard for excellence. Your role will involve leveraging psychographic and demographic insights to develop captivating packaging and branding assets, projects, and design tools that resonate across all categories. What You Will You Do
- Develop creative assets that will enable growth for relevant Walt Disney Company (TWDC) franchises from conception through to artwork development and distribution across all categories.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to solve complex creative challenges, identifying innovative solutions through analytical ability and effective decision-making skills.
- Apply creativity, analytical skills, and best practices to ensure excellence in the development of product ranges.
- Work closely with global and regional business segments and design teams to ensure creative alignment and support on wider projects as required.
- Ensure all assets are creatively and technically correct before approval by key stakeholders.
- Maintain full compliance with corporate guidelines, delivering a commitment to producing work that ensures character and design consistency and integrity.
- Build effective relationships within the wider creative community, maximizing their specialist knowledge to create world-class designs that push boundaries.
- Attend trade shows as required to broaden understanding of the EMEA marketplace, seeking out ideas and new creative solutions to better understand the business.
- Contribute to creative ideation sessions with internal and external teams.
- Provide relevant creative support, such as downloading, backing up, archiving, and creating digital presentations as required.
- Deliver presentations at a local level as needed.
- Work closely with product teams, designers, and artists to ensure character and franchise integrity are maintained, synchronizing design and art styles.
- Collaborate with the Senior Branding Manager and other design leads to ensure projects are planned effectively to meet deadlines on time and within budgets.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Specialist in-depth knowledge and proven experience in branding and packaging design, with a BA Hons (or similar) in a relevant discipline, such as graphic design, or equivalent experience.
- Proven commercial design experience in relevant categories or packaging and retail design roles at a licensee, retail head office, or supplier.
- Experience in retail or manufacturing design practice, with the ability to understand how buyers plan ranges and the commercial applications of product development and graphic design.
- Significant experience in designing multiple packaging designs for licensed products.
- Proven experience in building effective relationships and working with stakeholders within a large, multi-national, matrix organization.
- High level of understanding of all elements of design: illustration, pattern, page layout, color, packaging design, pack engineering, cutter guide generation, retail design, and trends, with the ability to create new graphic design assets and packaging from scratch.
- High level of understanding of Disney, Pixar, Lucas, Marvel, and 20th Century characters and how storytelling translates to product and packaging
- Strong awareness of marketplace trends in the design and retail environment, with the ability to translate new concepts into marketable, saleable packaging for products.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate concepts and present vision/ideas.
- Ability to work on and lead initial concepts through to final art-worked packaging style guides, individual packaging projects, and packaging pitches.
- Ability to support functional product design teams or projects for licensing, top DTR, and EMEA-based global partners.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload effectively.
- An understanding and application of color theory and usage.
- Highly skilled in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and other creative suite packages, including 3D applications such as Cinema 4D.
- Ability to create storylines that integrate Disney, Pixar, Lucas, Marvel, and 20th Century characters into trends inventively.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently to achieve goals.
- Highly conceptual “out-of-the-box” thinker, able to solve complex design challenges.
- Ability to foster an environment that encourages creative thinking and supports risk-taking.
