
Manager, Income Tracking (Disney Music Group)
Job Summary:
This position reports directly to the Director, A&R Administration for the Disney Music Group. In this role, you will be relied upon for oversight of collections of all sources of revenue exploitation for the Music Group, which includes record labels, music publishing, concerts and licensing.
The position has high levels of exposure to all departments at the company and you will be expected to represent the DMG financial interests to multiple internal and external partners. The department is growing and currently has one direct report to this role. Due to the increasingly complex nature of the music businesses, this position brings together the ability to provide the highest level of understanding of the business processes and offer guidance for improvement, while also working in an entrepreneurial hands-on environment.
DUTIES:
- Develop and oversee collection processes for all forms of revenue to Disney Music Group
- Ensure complete reporting of royalties from PROs and Neighboring Rights, including Sound Exchange
- Ensure complete reporting and payments for music licenses (both recorded music and music publishing), including consumer products, video games and sample use licenses
- Ensure DMG is receiving accounting and payments (when applicable) from Side Artist appearances
- Identify gaps in royalty statements/usage reports against using historical earnings data, while resolving issues and claim conflicts which are hindering collection of royalties
- Provide detailed analysis of income received
- Work with multiple departments/teams within DMG to identify areas where improvement of collection processes could be implemented
- Work and liaise with multiple vendors/partners/licensees of DMG to ensure payment of already contracted, or known, revenue or research and discover unknown revenue
- Liaise with legal team to escalate areas that need attention for both known or unknown revenue collection
- Liaise with technology team to offer input and design into new databases and software to help more efficiently track and collect revenue streams
- Track unpaid invoices and work closely with Disney Collections team to assist in established areas of collection and work to develop new areas where they could partner with DMG
- Partner with income tracking counterparts at sub-publishers on international collection projects
- Partner closely with Director of A&R Administration to identify key collection issues, and help to drive change of process and procedure when identified
- Provide support for Ad Hoc inquiries and analysis
- Maintain a mindset on efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring cost benefit analyses in prioritization
- Create, maintain and report on key business metrics to ensure financial objectives are met, including quarterly reporting of retrieved revenues
- Support Finance and Accounting teams on a regular basis to help to resolve issues and ensure revenue is reported accurately once collected
- Provide support during financial audits related to royalty income
- Hire and train new staff, assign projects, conduct performance evaluations and map out development plans
- Interact with other partners around the Studio to remain informed of business challenges and issues that affect our business
- Stay informed about the business and up on changes affecting the business, including investigating new forecasting and business methodologies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior and recent music industry experience is preferred (5+ years of relevant experience), working with recorded music and music publishing copyrights, ancillary music rights, as well as in the area of digital music, global music publishing, including extensive understanding of various types of revenue, societies collections and royalties/distributions
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, while taking initiative to explore as many different routes as possible to uncover various revenue streams and deliver exceptional results
- Excellent ability to read, understand and analyze contracts
- Keen ability to foster and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders
- Develop and nurture collaborative partnerships both within and outside of DMG
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and validity
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to partner well within a team and drive change
- An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work within a large organization
- Strong problem solving, project management and time management skills
- Must be able to apply advanced analytical skills to drive informed decision-making
- Ability to work in a dynamic and creative environment
- Be up to date on cutting-edge data analysis techniques and tools

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $78,200 to $104,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
