Creative Director, CreativeWorks Studio
Job Summary:
The Creative Director is a key leader in the overall creative vision for our DCW client-focused custom content campaigns and sponsored partnerships. They are an influential manager of both internal and external creative teams across all aspects of the process - from ideation and pitching to development and execution of innovative and impactful content solutions that directly drive revenue.
The Creative Director will develop and execute insight-driven creative solutions for client partnerships whether for a single Disney Entertainment brand/show/IP, or a cross-portfolio partnerships with multiple brands. The DCW portfolio of brands includes Hulu, Disney+, ABC, FX, Freeform, NatGeo, Disney Channels, and Disney Branded. Projects may include commercials, pro-mercials, promotions, integrations, long-form and short-form custom content, streaming ad products, digital/social campaigns, still photography, and live events. In addition, they may be called upon to lead creative for other priorities of TWDC such as synergy and CSR.
Reporting to a Director, Creative, they are a highly agile creative & strategic thinker and problem solver comfortable in a multi-platform, multi-brand role. An expert writer, collaborator, highly effective communicator and leader able to successfully manage internal and external teams of writers, editors, designers, music/sound professionals, vendors, and production companies. They must work in essential partnership with the DCW Project Management & Production team.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the DCW Studio creative team as needed in external and internal meetings with executive level management, agency leads and clients. Must maintain excellent relationships with Disney Ad Sales and Disney Entertainment marketing partners.
- Creative direct large-budget (250K-1MM+) productions, instilling the trust of external agencies and brands.
- Identify and pitch new opportunities for sponsorship/revenue.
- Attend client meetings and participate on calls in partnership with Sales, serving as the DCW branded content expert.
- Maintain a repertoire of, and relationships with, outside creative agencies (production houses, post houses, photographers, music, etc.) and align specific vendors with respective projects for the highest quality results on time and on budget.
- Protect the invaluable brand of Disney by knowing how and when to leverage our IP for a sponsor without compromising the brand(s).
- Ability to communicate clearly and swiftly with multiple stakeholders (Agency, Legal, Marketing, Publicity, etc.) to effectively creative direct projects on-time and on-budget.
- Work to build the reputation of the DCW group with the ability to not only stay abreast, but to “see ahead” of consumer trends, societal moods, and advertising themes, and translate these into creative opportunities that sponsors cannot ignore.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of creative experience in production, promotion, design, consumer marketing creative agency with proven results and creative recognition.
- Minimum of 3 years as a team leader in Creative
- Must be able to not only speak the language of an advertising agency, but translate and articulate it in a production environment.
- Exemplary written communication skills including formatted narrative scripting, creative treatments, pitches, and more.
- Superior and persuasive pitching/presentation skills with the ability to “read the room” and tailor your pitch to the intended audience.
- Working knowledge of, and parlance in, multiple forms of creative expression including graphic design, animation, storyboarding, music scoring, sound mixing, etc.
- Ability to manage internal and external creative resources as well as evaluate the quality of creative work and clearly communicate changes.
- Exceptional storytelling and writing expertise
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Understand of all aspects of production (pre through post)
- Able to be effective in a highly dynamic, matrixed environment.
- Well-developed organizational skills/project management
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required) or equivalent years of related work experience
Please note: You will be required to work onsite 4x/week (Monday – Thursday), work from home on Fridays, from our Burbank, CA office.
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $124,900.00 to $167,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
