Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative force that imagines, designs, and brings to life all Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, and cruise ships worldwide. Working across a spectrum of teams that range from creative and conceptual to scientific and technical, we blend an innovative mixture of storytelling, art, science, and technology to create immersive experiences, memorable destinations, and innovative entertainment for families around the globe!
What You Will Do
Across Disney, we‘re storytellers, and at Walt Disney Imagineering, we make the impossible, possible. This is where imagination and creativity combine with cutting-edge technology to build unforgettable experiences in our Disney parks, resorts hotels, cruise ships, entertainment districts, and more. Now is your chance to join our talented team of Imagineers as an intern on the Walt Disney Imagineering Communications Team to tell the stories of our greatest storytellers and the outstanding feats to bring them to life!
As a Walt Disney Imagineering Communications Intern, you will have the opportunity to….
Projects
- Provide overall support for a variety of discipline-specific projects which support overall Walt Disney Imagineering Communications and Disney Experiences Communications goals and objectives
- Drive special projects as defined by the Director of Walt Disney Imagineering Communications
- Assist in the preparation of special projects and presentations, materials, etc.
- Support a variety of communications requests across our executive, external, and internal communications portfolios
- Work with requesting organizations to determine details and logistics of events
- Keep Imaginers' bios and headshots up to date
Office Coordination
- Coordinate with administrative team for overall department and organization (ensure processes are consistent and demonstrate across all teams, manage office coverage)
- Coordinate Walt Disney Imagineering Communications leadership work sessions, off-sites, and events as assigned
Administrative
- Support and maintain project trackers with organization, consistency, and efficiency
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive follow-up system
- Assist in creating and managing a system of filing office records and documents, both digitally and in hard copy; file and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports
- Maintain and update the engagement grid
- Help compile and edit weekly news briefing reports
Eligibility Requirements
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Previous reporting/writing/editing experience with a student or professional publication in print, television, or online media
- Proficiency with AP writing style, blogging, and social media writing styles
- Proven track record to develop effective communication products
- Strong sense of customer service to all clients, including internal and external partners. Illustrates attention to detail and exhibits the superior organization skills necessary to assist in coordinating all forms of communication (internal and external) for timely delivery of replies and processing information requests
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills crucial to effective interaction with all levels of the organization including senior-level executives and their assistants
- Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure all deadlines are met
- Ability to handle confidential information and to exercise good judgment and discretion when managing sensitive issues
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription and other office procedures and terminology, phone, calendar maintenance, filing, etc
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Keynote and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Video editing experience and production
- Previous experience working in media relations or with a PR Agency (or related)
- Previous experience as a Disney Cast Member
Education
Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or graduated within the past 6 months, in an accredited college/university, earning a degree majoring in Communication/Marketing Communication/Visual Communication or related field
Materials Required:
- A writing sample is required for this position. For full consideration, please include a link to your writing sample on your résumé. Applicants without a writing sample link on their résumé, will not be considered a completed application packet and may not be fully considered for the position. Samples must be previously published or created for coursework; no theme park idea submittals will be accepted
Additional Information
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- The approximate dates of this internship are from January 2025- June 2025
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney Internship or Program
- Be aligned with The Disney Look appearance guidelines
- Must possess unrestricted work authorization
- You are expected to work FULL-TIME hours (approximately 40 per week) during the internship.
- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
- This internship is located in Glendale, CA; candidates should be receptive to providing their own transportation and housing for the duration of the internship
The pay rate for this role in California is $22.00 per hour for undergraduate students, $30.40 per hour for graduate students . Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
