
Cosmetology Designer
Job Summary:

The Cosmetology Designer creates cosmetology designs based on show treatments and creative briefs provided by various partners for entertainment offerings. This individual will pay close attention to diverse points of view and understand the functional aspects of the product's end-user.
This role reports to the Manager of Character Design and Development.
This role is full time.
What You Will Do
Provide Cosmetology design maintenance for ongoing offerings and support for new Cosmetology designs
Complete research and provide renderings and/or inspiration boards
Update and develop training collateral for new or revised designs, oversee the Cosmetology process flow and interaction of the Cosmetology teams
Lead all aspects of raw materials selections for all cosmetology products
Provide prototype oversight, including fittings
Interface and collaborate with various partners to build a well-rounded look, taking into account the overall costume
Attend assigned entertainment planning meetings and rehearsals
Partner with Entertainment/Costuming/Cosmetology Leaders and Costumers to implement new show products and maintain show quality
Provide and maintain effective communication with internal and all artistic production and operating partners
Stay current with Disney brand entertainment offerings worldwide
Required Qualifications & Skills
Valid Portfolio
Valid Cosmetology license
3+ years experience in a Cosmetology, Theatre, or Film related field
2+ years experience in cosmetology documentation and training
2+ years of design experience in a cosmetology related field
2+ years of experience in wig and make-up design inclusive of prosthetics and wig/facial hair production
Experience with Disney characters and entertainment offerings, and their related cosmetology guidelines
Experience using various design tools
Experience with the design and development process and following through with the project life cycle
Experience in hand drawing & sketching
Experience in managing projects from sketches to implementation where prioritization is required
Experience working in an environment where collaboration is key
Experience communicating (both written and verbal) to all levels of partner
Experience delivering direct written and oral feedback
Experience in industry trend research
Ability to work with different types of fabrics, fibers, and synthetic furs
Ability to work outside regular business hours (nights, weekends, holidays) as needed
Ability to travel between work location in a given day
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications
Valid drivers' license
Valid US Passport
Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
Education
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Advanced degree in fine/visual or graphic arts, costume/cosmetology design or related field is preferred
