About the Role & Program
Through innovative storytelling and a culture of collaboration, Disney Live Entertainment creates, produces, and delivers remarkable and engaging entertainment experiences. From the intimate to the spectacular, our work can be seen at Disney theme parks, resort hotels, cruise ships, and other locations the world over! This diverse team – representing a wide variety of disciplines and talents from technical directors, writers, and lighting designers to choreographers, cosmetologists, and music producers – brings magical worlds to life through technical expertise, performance excellence, incomparable ingenuity, unparalleled spectacle… and a dash of pixie dust!
This is a full-time 6-month internship (dates are January 13th, 2025, through June 6th, 2025).
What You Will Do
The Costume Production & Sustainment and Costume Production & Development Costumers are responsible for development of new Character and entertainment costumes thru taking designer’s renderings from concept to fruition. They also handle the replenishment and sustainment of existing costumes. Costumers source fabrics and commodities, create work orders and purchase orders, facilitate fittings and manage budgets and work with vendors and various partners. They troubleshoot challenges related to costumes and provide customer support to talent and operating partners.
Research and facilitate the manufacturing of new and replacement Entertainment costumes
Partner with Entertainment and Costuming Operations to ensure costume quality and design is consistently maintained
Coordinate fittings with Entertainment and Workroom personnel
Interact daily with Entertainment Show Producers, Directors, Designers, and Entertainment and Costuming Operating Managers
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experienced in the Theater, Film or Fashion Industry
Proven planning and organizational skills with attention to detail
Computer proficiency in programs such as Excel, OneNote, PhotoShop, Illustrator and Smartsheet as well as willingness to learn new programs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated strong partnering skills
Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and vendors
Education
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Currently enrolled as a Senior, recent graduate, or graduate student
Major or previous coursework in Costuming, Costume or Apparel Design, Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Fine Arts or equivalent
Materials Required
Portfolio either PDF or link to website listed on resume
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines
Available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Anaheim, California area and have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in California is $19.90 per hour.
