Director, Multicultural Publicity (PH)

The Walt Disney Studios seeks a skilled multicultural publicist responsible to develop and integrate tactics and materials to enhance and enrich outreach to multicultural audiences. This is a Project Hire position covering a leave beginning August 2024 through February 2025.
The Director of Multicultural Publicity and Promotions will oversee the strategic development and day to day management in the multicultural space. It would include but not limited to: Hispanic, AAPI, African American & Indigenous efforts. Including all forms of publicity, including traditional, print, TV and digital publicity, promotions, word-of-mouth outreach, grassroots events, award integrations and social influencer/content creator executions.
This includes management of external partners that assist in executing long lead and in-campaign television and digital outreach, talent appearances, junket and premiere exposure, set visits, major national efforts, as well as localized events that touch in the multicultural space. Additionally, the role includes screening and local activations in the Multicultural space. The position reports to the Senior Vice President, Publicity.
Exceptional communication skills at all levels is crucial. On a daily basis, the individual in this position will be someone that can take initiative with minimal direction, and have the ability to seek out information from various sources and have exceptional follow through. The individual will be expected to communicate clearly with both external partners as well as executives and filmmakers.
Job Duties:
-Lead and strategize innovate ideas on all multicultural publicity efforts in the multicultural space
-Have a thorough understanding and maintain communication through strong, established relationships with all key multicultural publicity partners and media outlets
-Manage and partner with hired multicultural publicity agencies including sharing strategy and direction, maintaining constant communication on major executions and providing overall day-to-day direction.
-Work in partnership with individual Publicity and Field teams to develop movie-specific publicity strategies driven from multicultural consumer insights
-Function as a subject matter expert and partner with the Publicity teams to identify, initiate and drive new multicultural-leaning publicity opportunities
-Oversee set visits, PA tours, Miami/Atlanta press days, junkets, premieres, events, award integrations, local activities, college activations, screenings, and other activations as needed
-Maintain reports of all multicultural publicity activities across every title for internal and filmmaker-facing reports and meetings, breaks, coverage and recaps
-Maintain/update databases, including but not limited to press partnerships, promotional partners and screening contacts
-Effectively communicate, both internally and externally, all multicultural opportunities and status
Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications:
-Minimum of 7 years of experience in the multicultural publicity and marketing space
-Experience hiring, leading and managing agencies in the multicultural space
-Preferred Bilingual (Spanish/English) but not required
-Working knowledge of Microsoft-based software: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong organization and communication skills are required to interface effectively with internal and external parties
-Knowledge of the ongoing multicultural zeitgeist, constantly informed about the cultural conversation and trends
-Possesses strong presentation skills, both oral and written
-Flexibility to travel for regional PA tours
-The ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, perform under pressure and pay close attention to detail
-Overall working knowledge with the SAP and Concur system preferred
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $139,800.00-$180,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
