Dry Dock Systems Manager

About the Role & Team
Under the oversight of the Senior Manager Dry Dock , this role is responsible for managing and optimizing the database system (Amos) used for statutory and compliance requirements in running cruise ships. You will ensure data integrity, define best practice uses for the database, perform troubleshooting, and assist in optimizing the performance of database during the planning and execution phases of the dry-docking/out of service periods of our Cruise Ships.
You'll coordinate with project managers, consultants, vendors, and shipyard teams to ensure seamless project schedules and execution.
The position requires a blend of database management and project scheduling expertise to ensure efficient project planning and execution during ship refits.
This role is based in Disney Cruise Line’s London Hammersmith office and requires approx. 3 months of global travel per year – incl. fully presence during dry dock (refit) periods.
What You Will Do
Support the Disney Cruise line dry dock team with planning, execution and supervising input into the AMOS database for all dry dock projects
Provide support and guidance to the Dry Dock Team with regards to system configuration possibilities to meet their requirements
Manage structure and contents to the system to confirm they align with established conventions
Manage and verify AMOS procedures for the Dry Docks are being correctly followed through continuous team coaching and training
Manage and consolidate technical drawings, certificates, and technical manuals in the digital library.
Ensure that all new assets/inventory is updated accordingly in AMOS
Responsible for the creation and management of new reports to use for analysis of costs and data stability.
Responsible for driving and developing process improvements to ensure maximal compliance from end users
Consult, advise, and influence the user best practices of AMOS system for the management for the dry docks.
Collaborating with IT teams and software developers to integrate databases with existing systems and applications. Ensure that systems are continuously developed to meet dry docking requirements.
Coordinate the overall and individual project schedules, establishing which projects have a critical path. Identifying potential work conflicts, pinch points and logistics conflicts. Lead discussions on any conflict resolution.
Maintain, track and lead presentations of master schedule discussions throughout the execution phase of the dry dock project.
Coordinate with Project Managers and 3rd party vendors to receive the project planning, daily work schedule, of individual projects to be undertaken during dry docking/out of service period.
Leverage Microsoft Project and other scheduling tools to create, import, integrate, all projects into a master schedule for the dry dock/out of service period.
During dry docking, coordinate walkthroughs on projects to track daily progress of work against schedule, recording all data to produce daily report
Identify in advance using master schedule slippage in progress of project schedules, liaise with DCL project managers and construction vendors to return projects to scheduled timelines.
Post dry dock produce and present construction vendor quality/assessment report for project evaluation to project managers and senior leaders and establish lessons learnt
Preparation documentation to aid improvement of dry dock procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
Confident in managing databases – both from a technical and a usability point of view (please note, this is not a software engineering role)
Have a strong understanding of planning/scheduling and quality control practices
Ability to develop strong relationships and lead in a team environment
Demonstrated strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to be flexible with work schedule and travel
High level of knowledge and experience in Microsoft Project
Proficient computer skills with familiarity using Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Project Management
Experience working with vendors/contractors
Cruise/Maritime industry experience
Knowledge of construction practices and related accounting
