About the Role & Program
Through innovative storytelling and a culture of collaboration, Disney Live Entertainment creates, produces, and delivers remarkable and engaging entertainment experiences. From the intimate to the spectacular, our work can be seen at Disney theme parks, resort hotels, cruise ships, and other locations the world over! Our diverse team – representing a wide variety of disciplines and talents from technical directors, writers, and lighting designers to choreographers, cosmetologists, and music producers – brings magical worlds to life through technical expertise, performance excellence, incomparable ingenuity, unparalleled spectacle…and a dash of pixie dust!
This is a full-time 6-month internship (dates are January 11th, 2025, through June 7th, 2025).
What You Will Do
Live Entertainment Advanced Development (LEAD) is a research and development studio where we are tasked with identifying and developing groundbreaking artistic talent, new technologies, and growing the future and best of live entertainment in our parks globally.
- Supporting the LEAD and Disney Live Entertainment teams through various phases of live entertainment projects.
- Crafting and designing pitch and research decks/presentations
- Assisting Creative and Art Directors in the creation of concept art, storyboards, quick sketches, photo-bashing, etc.
- Providing research to support projects and to present findings
- Coordinating brainstorms and fulfilling creative assignments which may include research, creative summaries, treatments, presentation boards and digital presentations
- Prioritizing and attending meetings with LEAD, Entertainment Production and other teams and participants
- Supporting various production events, such as mockups and work sessions
- Gaining a deep understanding of the role of Live Entertainment in Parks and Resorts by visiting and touring the parks, participating in customized learning sessions, and becoming an integral member of the team
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Validated understanding and experience driving artistic and design projects such as concept art, illustrations, storyboards, sketches, modeling, and photo-basing, etc.
- Understanding of story development
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- A self-starting demeanor and flexibility
- Critical thinking, using conclusive reasoning to resolve the best course of action in any research
- A basic knowledge of the performing arts industry, specifically theater or immersive experiences
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once, prioritize tasks, and confidential information in a fast-paced environment
- Validated strength with Keynote, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word and Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience and/or knowledge of theater or event coordination
Education
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- Currently enrolled as a Senior, recent grad or Grad student earning a degree majoring in Illustration, Animation, Communications, Digital Media, Design, Writing or related field
Required Materials
- Portfolio (must submit a pdf file of your best 10 pieces of artwork as well as a URL link on resume; no other submission formats considered)
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
- Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines
- Available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week; possible nights and weekends) for the duration of the internship
- Able to provide own housing in the Glendale, CA area and have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in California is $26.50 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
