Job Summary

As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering you will be responsible for leading the delivery of cloud technology solutions that will be deployed across the Identity Engineering organisation.

You will be empowered to set technical and architectural direction, and to influence the roadmap and structure of your fleets - working in partnership with your peers across Product, Project Management and Engineering. You will also be responsible for helping your leaders organise in a way that allows them to deliver against the Identity Engineering organisation’s roadmap most effectively.

You will lead and be part of an engaging, dynamic, and inclusive engineering organisation, grounded in scrum and agile practices, with strong collaboration between squads, and motivated by a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. You will also help cultivate a culture that is focussed on ensuring that guests, consumers, and internal stakeholders have a fantastic experience when interacting with our squads.

Identity Engineering delivers Consumer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) capabilities across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) including but not limited to: D+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Parks. Identity Engineering squads build and run high-traffic and globally replicated systems which form an integral and visible part of every consumer’s journey at Disney properties.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of unification of telemetry, alerting, infrastructure, CI/CD, version control systems, and services.
  • Deliver on the vision of executives and the Principal Architecture Group (PAG).
  • Promote and support Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban.
  • Mentor engineering fleet leaders and their squad members to help them improve their technical ability and build their profile within and outside of the organisation.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Operations, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions and outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Experience reasoning about complex service interactions.
  • 3rd-party vendor-management experience.
  • Experience leading Enterprise level system transformations.
  • Leadership of software development teams in the streaming data space.
  • Experience with operating globally resilient deployments.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kubernetes, Terraform, and infrastructure as code (IaC) best practices.

Desirable Skills

  • Cloud architectural best practices

  • Cloud networking knowledge.

  • Experience leading software development teams that operate one of the following Java Virtual Machine (JVM) languages: Java, Scala, or Kotlin.

  • Minimum of 10 years related work experience.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
