Entertainment Technical Manager, Event (1-year contract)

Through innovative storytelling and a culture of collaboration, Hong Kong Disneyland's Entertainment team creates, produces, and delivers remarkable and engaging entertainment experiences. The Technical Manager leads technical production efforts related to the development and sustainment of live entertainment shows and product offerings, including parades, stage shows, and special events.
What You Will Do
- Develop, lead, and mentor crew while promoting company-wide standards and efficiencies
- Participation in creative development and coordinating/partnering with local and government authorities responsible for legal code compliance, including safety, engineering, permitting, and ADA
- Coordinate bid processes and vendor selections with contracts and procurement and manage vendor efforts including design development, construction
- Interact with other party’s fabrication, shipping, installation, and buy-off teams
- Supports and consults on maintenance, design, and mounts of new shows
- Provide ongoing Entertainment Show Quality evaluations as part of the implementation and operational planning
- Maintains project files, tech logs, design documents, bid packages, schedules, and punch lists
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience working in a Technical Theater or Live Show Entertainment environment
- Proven knowledge and understanding of the operation and artistic application of a variety of show systems and technology, including audio, special effects, puppets, lighting, show control systems, video, facilities, and rigging
- Proven experience with facility design, engineering, and construction
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express creative ideas
- Proven track record of supporting the creative process by collaborating with other designers, directors, producers, and writers
- Highly motivated requiring minimal direction and follow-up
- Strong computer, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated leadership, partnership, and strategic planning skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays
- Fluent in both Chinese and English
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven business management experience
- Proficient in some or all of the following engineering subject areas: structural, mechanical, electrical, software, safety
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Technical Theater with a focus on technical design, construction, and production
