Senior Manager, Publishing/Digital Experience

Job Summary:
- Manage and develop licensing business in publishing category containing physical/digital publishing and learning products, capitalizing on Disney/Marvel/Star Wars/NatGeo properties.
- Understand market requirements and identify appropriate products with most appropriate launch timing, business models and licensees/partners who have expertise in their field of business.
- Develop and negotiate deals with licensees/partners and manage product and marketing approvals for the licensees.
Responsibilities:
- Drive and grow the business with sales target.
- Analyze market conditions in order to identify trends and key success factors to grow the business.
- Propose new ideas to licensees or new business partners. Lead deal negotiations to close them successfully.
- Responsible in working closely with licensees and develop AOP/5YP forecast, ensuring goals and targets are to be achieved according to the plan.
- Manage daily contacts with licensees.
- New deal and contract renewal negotiations
- Sales update, analysis and forecasting
- Minutes of key meetings and negotiations
- Product and marketing approval management
- Develop strategic plans, reflecting both short term and long-term opportunities and risks in the market.
- Communicate with global counterparts and be always up to date on global product and/or concept availability and contents.
- Report business progress to Director regularly as well as ad hoc reports.
Requirement:
- 4 - 8 years of experiences in business development and/or strategy planning.
- Licensing and/or consulting business experience.
- Basic understanding to Japan publishing/learning markets.
- Experience of managing the new deal from the beginning to the end (NDA, deal term negotiations, etc.).
- Contents development and/or marketing experience in learning category.
- High understanding in Digital Education and Digital platform is preferred.

- Good communication skills particularly in negotiation, leadership and interpersonal relationships.
- First-hand experience with the following not an absolute requirement but preferred.
- Sales & Marketing experience in licensing business and/or publishing business.
- New business development.
- Project management experience involving 3 or more stake holders.
- High understanding in digital publishing business including manga is preferred.
- Native level fluency in Japanese, and good communication skills in English (written and spoken) are required.
- Sense of commitment and responsibility to one’s business responsibilities with passion.
- Understanding of company priorities, and how one’s business responsibilities tie into them.
- Strong interests in various types of publishing contents (Books & Magazine, Mook, Partworks, Manga, Webtoon, Audio Book, Motion Book, e-learning, AR, etc.) and creating new product categories.
- Bachelor's Degree or above
